Brian Henson brings to the Delta Regional Authority more than 16 years of experience in local and regional economic development. He is currently the Chief of Staff for DRA, where he has worked for over three years. He previously served the agency as the special advisor for congressional and federal affairs, an important liaison for DRA to maintain strong relationships with its congressional funders and federal partners and advisor on DRA’s investments and grants programs. He is passionate about economic development and improving infrastructure in the Mississippi River Delta region. Brian completed the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute and his CEcD coursework in 2008. For eight years he was the executive director of the Kemper County (Miss.) Economic Development Authority, where he assisted with the development of several economic development projects and managed the county’s Business Incubator Facility. He also was responsible for numerous smaller business expansions and community development projects, including a critical access hospital and senior citizens community center. Brian graduated from Mississippi State University with bachelors and masters degrees in business administration. He is a former member of the Mississippi Economic Development Council and Southern Economic Development Council. He and his wife Mary Martha, a fellow Mississippian, split their time between Ocean Springs, MS and Washington, DC.
